Many years ago, I used to go to Wicks & Sticks and buy the votives that came in the more masculine scents like Brut, patchouli and sandlewood.
I gave up the scented votives after I fell asleep, leaving a candle burning on top of the portable TV. The crack of the glass candle holder breaking woke me up.
The candle holder had overheated and had melted itself into the plastic TV case. The overheated glass had melted the entire candle to hot wax vapor and I came thisclose to setting the entire apartment on fire.
