Nicholas also made Kato entertain him like a court jester and demanded that Kato take drugs, the lawsuit said.
Nicholas forced Kato to keep a large supply of drugs on hand at all times as well, to "look the other way" when Nicholas spiked clients' drinks with drugs and to bring prostitutes around for clients' entertainment, according to the lawsuit.

Stephen "Otter" Otten has refused to utter a word against Nicholas before a federal grand jury investigating illegal backdated stock options at Broadcom. The mulish 30-year-old veteran had been hired to "provide security and companionship for Nicholas' children," according to The Los Angeles Times. Claiming his close bonds with Nicholas and kids effectively made him a part of the family, Otter took jail time for civil contempt in his silence, even after being promised immunity from prosecution.

Date: 2008-05-06 06:27 pm (UTC)Reminds me of the Onion story about the rock band that has to admit, they really enjoyed the first part of their "nightmarish descent into drugs, alcohol, and hookers" - that it was only when they ran out of money and weren't able to get any more drugs, alcohol, and hookers that they realized it was a "nightmare."
