Just got back from CostCo, their generic for Zyrtec was $14.67 for 300 pills. Target and VoldeMart will sell you 45 for that price.

Their generic Claritin is still 300 for $11.29.

And they finally have a Prilosec generic which was $18-something for 42 vs $23-something for the brand name package which retails around $27 elsewhere.

OOoohh Shiney!

about time they started carrying that! We were going to Walgreens 'cause their generic was far cheaper than what Costco was carrying regular Zyrtec for (and at least here in MO, they had not been carrying their own generic version).

Looks like a Costco run is gonna come up soon :)

Don't Kroger or WalMart offer the equivalent generic on their formulary?

These are OTC (Over-the-Counter) medications.

Insurance doesn't cover these.

The $4 programs cover a limited selection of prescription generic drugs. Generics not on the list are usually cheaper elsewhere. When I was researching the drugs I take the order from lowest to highest was: CostCo, Target, Walgreens, CVS, then Drugstore.com.

{Edit: Not familiar with the $4 program at Kroger. Target adopted the same list as Wal-Mart.]

Do you happen to remember what the name is of the generic Claritin at Costco?

Sure, still have the backing cardboard:

AllerClear = Claritin = loratadine

Aller-Tec = Zyrtec = cetirizine

Wow. We'll definitely need to go to CostCo this weekend.

I'm almost out of my Walgreens generics.

I'm aware of the rape by US Pharma.

As one on my Friends List from Canada remarked, "Medicine, the one thing that is lower in cost than the the same in the United States."

Before Zyrtec went OTC in the US, I was getting Reactine (same drug) from Canada and paying $15 for 90 pills.

Hahaha. I've never heard it called VoldeMart before. That's hilarious! I hate Wal-Mart and haven't stepped into one in at least five years, so that makes me laugh. :-P

Try This link. Price has gone up a bit since then. It's now $21 for 100.

You can do better at CostCo. They have a location in Kansas City, Mo

It's a great term for 'em, isn't it? :)

I once lectured my father on never ever ever shopping there after the opened in the town he lives in... don't know if it sank in or not.

Yup, I posted about that a while back myself. (Maybe they don't roll these things out to all the stores at once?) I notice our price is a couple of bux higher, but still a complete steal.

My parents stopped shopping there. Now they shop at Target or Albertson's. I love that a Super Target opened not far from me. Now I do all my shopping there, unless I just need a couple of things and then I'll go to the Safeway that's closer.

It also seems like Wal-Mart is hurting. I've never seen them advertise so much in my life.
