For several years I've had the question below as a tag line in one of my email account's sig blocks. Tonight in a comment to a post about his recent trip, I asked a friend who just returned from Maui:

Q: Have you ever wondered, "Just how do the residents of Haiku, Hawai'i hold conversations?"

He replied 26 minutes later:

An odd melody
island voices on the winds
surplus of vowels

I Believe I have a winner.
