Wow....so cool to see it all in writing. I'm guessing the answer to this is no, but I wonder if it's possible to be married to a woman as well as a man at the same time since they are different laws?
Um... the point is that they're NOT different laws anymore here in California. Even prior to this, I believe that one of the criteria for a domestic partnership was that neither partner be married or partnered to anyone else. Despite the spewings of the Radikal Right, this does NOT legalize any form of group marriage.
And if a same-sex couple was legally married in another jurisdiction, eg Canada, they are not allowed to get married again - CA recognizes the earlier marriage, effective Monday afternoon.
I think the earlier comment was alluding to a situation in which Bisexual Bob marries Tom in CA and then runs off to TX (where the marriage to Thom isn't recognized) and marries Heather. Legal in TX, Bigamy in CA. TX refuses to extradite to CA.
I imagine an early court case from the CA marriages in which a lesbian couple get married in CA and then, after going home, to OK or TX or AR or...., six months later decide to get divorced. They can't locally, because locally they aren't married.
Lots of Full Faith and Credit implications down the road.
