I would have been surprised if "same-gender marriage" had been made legal so quickly. I think this is one of those fundamental rights issues that's going to have to be "chewed on" by the populace a bit - especially coming off of eight years of Republican "leadership".
I do believe that the issue will eventually be resolved in our favor as a "no-brainer" kind of thing. Remember, we've just gotten a (slight) majority of folks to to elect an "African-American" as president. When they see that the world hasn't come to an end, they may be ready for the next step.
