Despite his recent foray into birther wingnuttery, CNN moderator Lou Dobbs actually says some sensible things here, demanding that Maggie Gallagher explain how opposite marriage is damaged by gay marriage. "You're blaming homosexuals for an institution that's under assault by just about everything BUT gays!" Tobias Wolff is typically great here.

Note that she has no answer about how gay marriages could possibly hurt straight ones - because they can't. She's whining about "marriage" being "redefined" - well, that's happened over and over through history. Maybe she'd like to go back to being the chattel property of her husband? No right to divorce him, even if he's abusing her and molesting their children?
