Today was another tranplant list recertification visit for Dave. Instead of the regular transplant nephrologist, he saw one of his associates (A black female with frigid patient rapport). She made a point to remind Dave that "Baylor is a religious institution." O-kayyyyyyyyyyy

Time to look into getting listed at TRH and UT SW.

That's definitely not kosher.... even in Texas. Is it worth while reporting her to her superiors?

What the hell does that mean?

The former CEO of the hospital here went to Baylor to open a new hospital a couple of years ago. I wonder if it is the same place? She's a real sweetheart and would not tolerate that sort of statement. Her name is Donna Sollenberger, and I'm sure her contact information is online.

Yikes.

And, she probably knows that her remark is All About Context - reporting her on it would be a You Against Her thing.

FWIW she's probably a bitter, soulless tw*t who hasn't had a orgasm since med school.

She's @ Baylor Clinic & Hospital, part of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. This was at Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth (which was an acquisition).

I was thinking more like publicly shaming the hospital.

Good idea... perhaps an open letter to the local newspapers.... and TV stations....

What, they'd rather he die than treat someone who does things their religion disproves of? Wow, that a dick of a religion.

Not die, Just "Go Somewhere Else".

You're not familiar with the Southun Babtis', Dear?

They recently kicked out one of Fort Worth's more prominent churches over its inclusive welcome. As the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported:
"Broadway Baptist Church has been kicked out of the Southern Baptist Convention because its stance on homosexuality is too lenient, convention members said."
The fuss was due to an openly-gay pianist and his partner. You may have even heard of him. Van Cliburn?

No, when I left the whole "religious" meme behind, I didn't bother to differentiate between the various sects, nor did I keep tabs with their many and diverse imbroglios.

Sorry to hear you and your sweetie are facing that kind of intolerance. Is that even legal there?

I am going to look on the bright side and assume that her words were, “Baylor is a religious institution, and we are called to love everyone as Christ loves us. How can I help?”

I know, I know, that’s probably exactly opposed to what she meant. Sigh.

I’m sorry.

No, it was in answer to a question regarding the "pissing contest" between Baylor and UT Southwestern over altruistic donations. Her answer was, "Baylor is a religious institution and we have higher moral standards."

Being (with) a religious institution does not necessarily equate having higher moral standards...

I'm pretty sure this violates the "public accomodations" part of FW's non-discrimination ordinance. And, whaddaya know, the city's gay councilman happens to represent the part of town where the hospital is located. Would you like the name and number of his assistant, and his appointment to the Human Relations Commission?

You should know that it would never be overt enough for that. It was just the way it was said as part of a reply to a question that set off the dog-whistle alarm.
