  1. That was fast. Ballot arrived in today's mail. Only faxed in the request yesterday.

Attn Residents of the State of TX: early voting in person in TX begins next Tuesday, Feb. 19 and continues through to Feb 29. Applications for ballots by mail are now being accepted.
Check your county's web site, the Secretary of State's site or VoTexas.org for more information.
If you don't vote, you can't complain.

  2. Bless his heart. Dave remembered Valentine's Day, and showed up from Walgreens today with my Zyrtec and a box of Whitman's chocolate-caramel turtles as well as a Whitman's Sampler.

What'd I put off for Lent?

    Yep, That's right, chocolate.

    (I didn't remind him.)

You *could* restrict Lent to daylight hours ONLY...that let's you be observant AND be smitten :)

Redheads trump Lent.

Every time.

I would make a sincere theological argument that sharing chocolate with David is a higher commandment than adhering to a Lenten sacrifice. Love and community are both explicitly commanded by God Himself, whereas Lenten fasting is a purely human creation. He did something for you in a spirit of love, and it would be churlish of you to shelve it or put it aside for another month.

So enjoy the chocolates with a clear conscience and a cheerful heart, and please tell David hello for me. :)
