I only know because CBS News did a segment on how so few of the "winners" have been successful after their stints on the show.

It's because America is made up of lots and lots of morons who turned a singing show into a beauty contest, so the final winners were crap. Not since Kelly Clarkson has America gotten it right until tonight. David Cook is going to be a big talent.

If you look at all the most successful Idol's, they are usually the runner's up. Hell, look no further than Daughtry who had the #1 selling album on Billboard of 2007 across the board.

I can go to work happy tonight knowing that little magic underwear wearing goody goody didn't take the top spot thanks to a bunch of tiny bopper girls.

I'm very relieved. Cook is a good musician. I sometimes worry about his vocal technique. That was my downfall; so I tend to project. Gaspy, the little boy from Utah, gave me the creeps. I hope his dad doesn't beat him and lock him in a cage. I hope he can escape and have a happy life singing in musical theater or kiddie pop for Disney.

I saw that segment too. It is amazing that so few of them have found after-show success. It is even more surprising that someone like Daltry, who is hawt looking, is doing very well and he wasn't even a winner.

I think it's luck but it's also how hard you want to work at it.

If you think about it, Top Chef and Project Runway have yet to show us someone that is nationally known.

Like the "dog" said, it's a reality show.

I escaped unscathed this year I saw no sections or parts of the entire fiasco other then 10 blurbs from news and entertainment sites
