Got to bring Dave home yesterday. Typical hospital discharge scenario: show up around 2:00PM, leave hospital at 5:30PM. Cardiologist appointment this morning for the transplant folks (yearly evaluation). Hospitals are lousy places to get rest.

After he got home from the appointment we were off to Target for a couple Rx for me and 5 buckets of cat litter (40 lb Scoop-Away for $9.00).

Next up Walgreens for Byetta - first dose tonight. This should be interesting.

Byetta - per my Book at work

"Other common side effects with BYETTA include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, feeling jittery, and acid stomach. Nausea is most common when first starting BYETTA, but decreases over time in most patients"

I find what helps me with nausea is Iced Tea or Water with a bit of Lemon.

Hugs

Hm... I hope they warned you about Byetta causing an odd desire to bask on a warm rock... ;)

A friend of mine has been on it for some time now, and it's helped her glucose control enormously.

Glad to hear that the hospital stay was short, the cats will love you for a few minutes and you're now a science 'speriment.
I've heard mostly good things about Byetta. I hope it goes well.

John,

Please keep us aware of how it works for you. I am seriously thinking about doing it but not sure if I'm ready for those nasty side effects.

One weight-loss doctor I saw several years ago suggested Byetta for an off-label use of reducing belly fat, which is evidently one of its more peculiar (and common) side effects.

Not that I'm suggesting you need to lose weight.

("Does this dress make me look fat, dear?")

But Scott (my doc) and I think it's an excellent idea - to the tune of ~20kg. 15kg is probably more realistic, since I can't see myself much below 210.

And yes, he and I have picked drugs based largely on beneficial side-effects; eg, Wellbutrin for the "Zyban-effect" when I was still smoking.
