What the hell is it with these idiot N. Dallas businesses that keep referring to Central Expy aka US Hwy 75 as "I-75" as in "Interstate 75"?

I-75 runs from Sault Ste. Marie through Detroit, Dayton, Cincinnati, Lexington, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, terminates at an interchange with SR924 and SR 826 in Hialeah, FL (a Miami suburb). I don't see any TX cities in that list.

If it's anything it's a northern extension of I-345 (commonly referred by traffic reporters as the "I-45 overhead").

Why don't they just extend I-45 up Central Expressway to the state line or thereabouts?

"Status Seeking N Dallasites"

The overhead is already I-345. Either number would seem to work fine.

This is something that used to drive me nuts when I worked in news. You could always tell the newbies as the ones who incorrectly referred to the road.

Tonight's irritant was an advertisement "Underwriting Announcement" on 90-FM. But I hear it regularly from veteran news anchors of a FtW-based network(-owned) TV station.

That's because they hire news writers and producers with little experience or common sense and pay them peanuts.

I have to agree with Tommy, ditch the I-345 extension, which is for funding purposes, really, and extend I-45 up to Tulsa OK to meet with I-44. Much of the roadway is freeway or tollway up to Tulsa anyway.

That would work. They'd need to do a good deal of work between Durant and McAlester - much of it's not more than divided country road. Damn, I hated that stretch. The run of US-69 up to Big Cabin was at least scenic in places.

But QUIT calling it I-75.

Actually, I75 first starts in the U.P. at Sault Ste. Marie, goes across the Mackinac Bridge, and then down through Detroit. ;o)
