A model year 1970 to be precise. I can see the outline of the reflectors on the outsides of the rear lights. That was the only year they did that. I also happened to own one of the same year and color (dark green, mostly faded to steel - paint is optional in the desert). It was a replacement for my '74 type 1 that met an unfortunate end. What's funny is after modifications I painted it the same yellow that the deck lid is on this one :)
