I'm not really so concerned with whether this was "planned long ago and unrelated" or not. I don't really buy that spin on the situation.
To me, it matters more that the invitation of Bishop Robinson was made, and I think the spirit he espoused in this interview is what I will take from this controversy.
I personally believe Obama will eventually become a strong advocate for equal marriage rights.
But even if that doesn't happen, I think we have a very strong ally in Obama, and I'm very glad January 20th is coming very soon.
