Another day - another menu:
  • Potato Salad (Mustard) - Check

  • Cole Slaw - Check

  • Beans - Check - in oven

  • Ribs - Check - Marinated overnight in beer, rubbed overnight, Re-rubbed and ready for grill
The Good Reverend, with whom I've discussed BBQ, will be pleased to know these are pork ribs.

Dave mixes a big shaker of Brennan's rub and I use that. Then they go on the upper rack of the grill to cook a lot of fat out and get sealed. When the meat is about 160°F, I bring them in, put on some sauce and let them cook another 30-45 minutes @ ~300-350°F.

The beans are a big can of Bushes, two drained cans of Ranch Style, then I add garlic, onion, brown sugar, mustard, & chili powder. Dave likes to add bacon - I skip it.

All I'm missing is the great big frozen mugs of beer.

A few things:

What kind of sauce do you use once they're inside?

Don't skip the bacon, ever.

Big yay for icy beer, though at 37 degrees this morning I'd skip it up here for now.

Sauce: Either I make my own which is tomato-molasses based or I have the H/Cubby pick up (*gasp*) a bottle of something @ the grocery.

37°F is a nice spigot temperature. I wonder if I can find Harp by the keg. Dave's already agreed to a beer box 'in principle' - I just need to find a double kegger and make some room for it out on the patio.

The overnight beer soak gave the ribs a very nice taste - they were also very lean.

Why is it that in major metropolitan areas, the Jewish kids know where to find the best (p*rk) Lo Mien? I know about Chinese places being the only ones open on Christmas, but it still doesn't explian the pork factor.

PS: I can do beef ribs on the other grill.

I wonder that question as well though not too hard. I figure the Jewish kids finally left on-their-own (yea, right!) are gonna sample the forbidden fruits and realize they've been had. It's a slippery slope from that moment. -and in my opinion a healthy slide.

For sake of disclosure: I'm only 25% Hebe and not practicing in any semblance of organized religion.

It's the German christian relatives that imposed their values on me. One taste of that pork roast and I was an instant convert. Must be the Swine agenda or somethin'.

Sure! absolutely! I love beef too.
