| Debunking the Myths: Myth #1 -- Churches and other religious institutions will be forced to marry same-sex couples Myth #2 -- Religious institutions can face penalties such as law suits or loss of tax exempt status if they refuse to marry same-sex couples Myth #3 -- Marriage as we know it will be destroyed "Massachusetts can prove that what people feared has not come about. The only thing that has transpired is that people who love each other now have the same rights as other people who love each other." |

Date: 2009-04-22 07:31 am (UTC)I love those people.... And you know, it makes you really wonder what all the fuss is actually about. Te people that use SO much energy to hate, and oppose us - they must have such trivial lives that they need some sort of drama to focus on. Sad, aren't they?

Date: 2009-04-22 10:54 am (UTC)I am here to tell you that is simply NOT TRUE. Unless you have every fucking power of attorney, directive, "permission slip" and every other legal document known to man, you don't. Unless you can produce all of these documents on the spot, you don't. You get turned away. You get told "no."
It's a fucking complete sham. Keep fighting for it if it makes you feel better. Do you see married straight couples getting asked for their fucking marriage license to prove they are married at every "legal" opportunity to do so? No. Do they have to walk around with a folder full of various powers of attorney to get basic business done? No.
I've said it before and it bears repeating. Marriage "equality" laws such as they are now are a large steaming pile of horse shit. With straw sticking out of it.
