Hubby and I are watching Rachel Maddow and it's a commercial break. The latest GE locomotive ad came on.

Dave was like, "OMG that was the gayest GE ad ever."

I do not understand why they spend money to advertise the fact that they make locomotives and jet engines on TV. The average person cares very little who makes these things, and it's not like they are an impulse purchase. Oh Honey, let's run out and buy one!

Cnn/MSNBC/etc... they're looking for investors not purchasers.

Indeed. Remember all the chemical/spacecraft/turbine ads in National Geographic 1940-1960 .., the MSNBC of its time.

Love their new ad agency!

Okay makes a LITTLE more sense but is someone who can buy enough stock to make a difference going to do so based on an emotional response to an ad like that? And I've seen those ads... our TV is NEVER tuned to anything that intelligent.

Wow. First time I've seen this. VERY gay. What is with GE basically making EVERYTHING now?

General Electric is the world's largest builder of railroad locomotives in terms of overall sales since the 1980s, although they aren't too popular here in Europe. Yes, they are probably interested in investors of "heavy machinery" also for "educating" the public of their various product lines.

GE recently introduced several models of digital P&S cameras, an already crowded marketplace.

I guess they think Teh Gheys are the only ones with investable semi-pseudo-"wealth" and most specifically, Geeky Tech Bears who may have "cashed out" of the Dot-Com bubble at Just The Right Time?
