Being math illiterate, I don't get it.

A quick stab at it while in a rush to get to work (gah! hope i'm not late)...

ba f(x) dx = F(B) - F(A)

substitution:
1310 2x dx
= 2(13)*2 - 2(10)*2
= 26*2 - 20*2
= 12

translation:
What are you, twelve?

It's actually comes out to 13^2-10^2 = 169-100 = 69.

I think, from here, it's quite obvious.

*facepalm* Ok, so I did a semi-derivative, semi-integral, eh? For shame. I really ought to think in math terms more often than once a year.

The integral of 2xdx is x^2.

Within the limits of 10 and 13, substitute x as 13 and 10 then subtract both.

13x13 - 10^ 2 = 169 - 100
= 69

Ain't it wonderful? {Ø} on the source, but I may go back to where I found it and see if they have a link.

I had found other designs on white, but this looks to be the same as the image I found.

Youze a Saint, Steve.

I hated calculus.

I have no idea why this is funny.

To all those rolling there eyes and making fun of us who don't get it..not all of us took Calculus in school.

In any respect, knowing what it is (after reading further) i can see why this would be funny.

Why the defensive shoulder chip?

"To all those rolling there eyes and making fun of us who don't get it..."

From what I've seen, that would be no one. I didn't witness anything that could be construed as eye rolling nor did I see anyone being made fun of. The vast majority of people I know who have higher mathematics experience are quite aware that the general population does not share that experience.

"...not all of us took Calculus in school."

And many of those who did, had little or no choice in the matter. When I was at UTA, three semesters of university calculus were required for science, engineering, and math majors. Those who did not have HS calculus or at least elementary analysis credit got to take remedial courses (which didn't apply to the degree requirements) to get themselves up to that level, then start with calculus. Not everyone here took chemistry or physics either.

Oh, and actually, since you asked, I'll pass. I don't enjoy it much.
