In my new messages on one of the bear profile sites:
gep2: WOOF!!! Great beard!! Would love to cross paths with you sometime! Anything planned for this weekend? You ought to come to the Dallas Bears meeting at noon tomorrow! We'll be going to Hunky's at the crossroads afterwards.
We've discussed getting back involved with the DB, but some things can scare you away...

ROFL!!

If you haven't already licensed that phrase, I'd like permission to use it!

I would be glad to loan the phrase!

But if they did, they'd be branded as "Sluts," right?

Oh, I still see we eat our own. We haven't been to any bear events since...2001(?) I see we haven't missed a damn thing.

Ah, those halcyon days wayback when...I remember the Saturday morning at my house in Duvall where we formed the Seattle Bears over bagels, coffee, and cruisy looks...

Don't worry, we have that here in Dallas, too. If you aren't in the in-crowd then there is a good chance you just won't get the emails about what's going on, or that certain people will be unable to perceive your existence. I thought it was because Josh and I are too young, or I'm not stereotypically bearish, but it happens to others.

One of the new board members is making a concerted effort to "be friendly" with everyone he wouldn't normally talk to. I respect this in principle, but it has lead to some awkward over sharing, and I'm waiting for him to strain something with the effort.

Is there a Ft. Worth bear club you can join instead?

I'm trying to get them to join a CHICAGO bear club, but something keeps coming up about the distance... *evil grin*

I nearly did, but then I had pay attention to my job and move back to the Bay Area.

Yep, Trinity River Bears. Was a member before I moved to CA to be with Dave.

We're already associated with the Denton County Bears and the Arlington Supper Club bunch almost all have B411 profiles.

My logic is that GEP probably wouldn't be caught dead in a FORT WORTH organization. I'm under the vague impression that he bursts into flames crossing the Dallas city limit...

Yay, Denton! The Home Of Happiness!

No, from what I can tell, he regularly crosses over the county line into Arlington.

Some time ago, he tried inviting me and Dave out to some comedy club in Arlington that he regularly got free tickets to.

I have not heard how the fire at Stampede will affect the Trinity River Bears. That was their home club, and they had some club property there.

You'll find a happy home, and smiling faces, and tolerance for the ethnic races, in Denton...

But I know him. Met him after I started venturing out again after the sociopathic ex split.

Said meeting involved pizza for dinner and back to his place. It was "interesting".

Interesting in that you're a better person for it, or interesting in that you needed to self-medicate afterwards?

Sounds like a canned message and he's sending it to people whether he's met them or not. Is he personally trying to be a Dallas Bears Welcome Wagon? There's better representatives out there.

Indeed. I went to Jr High and HS with the immediate past president. and used to live three streets over from his predecessor when I lived in Watauga.

But it's not just the Bears. There was last weekend's invite to Dave for a J/O party here in Arlington.

Based on the responses you've had, I think I'm glad we aren't organized up here in South Dakota (but I think the membership would include 2 members anyway).

I think you got your answer. LOL
