I was on some house tour locally last fall when the tour guide out of the blue remarked that Franklin Pierce was the second worst president. I could discern his judgement on who was numer 1 so as I was leaving remarked "Did you know Barbara Bush was a Pierce? He sorta got it from both sides" the guide cracked a big smile.
Actually, Dubya, through one branch of his family, is cousin to Nixon, Ford, FDR, and Edith Roosevelt, Theodore's wife

Interesting. Now what is the "missing link" between George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan? Simple. Reagan made a movie with a chimpanzee, and W. is the third cousin, twice removed, to that chimpanzee.

Dang. Missed 3 of 'em - 5 (thought it was Jimmeh), 7 (sounds like something so typcially Jackson) and 10 (since, pre-Ford, Hoover was the longest-lived president).

Dang.

Technically, David Rice Atchison was never the President of the United States. He never rose above the level of Acting President, as he was never formally sworn into office. His term of Acting President was, indeed, for just a single day. :)
