Bell System Technical Journal, 1922-1983
Alcatel-Lucent has made available the entire Bell System Technical Journal from 1922-1983 available on the Web in PDF format sorted by year, volume and issue. Its searchable as well.
It is a wealth of consolidated information about the activities of the labs in those years.

My inner geek so wanted to buy the second generation Picturephone set that was recently offered on eBay, but the $2,000 asking price was too rich for me. I think it eventually sold for something around $1,600, which I think is pretty pricey, even for a piece of history.
