Very validating, at a minimum. FWIW Metrolink has a rep for being progressive and well-run as public transit agencies go (the past five years or so; not so much before then).

Best of luck whatever your decision re. pursuing this.

If you need/want a reference, I'd be happy to attest to your activities with Enigmail and how they relate to the job requirements. (E.g., bash, buildmastering, Linux skills, etc.)

I guess I should have indicated this isn't for me, but for anyone on the coast looking. It would be irresponsible for me to leave TX right now

Why would it be irresponsible?

I didn't realize WireShark was some major thing to put on a resume. Or maybe I only use basic features.

Wireshark is pretty much the de-facto standard tool in the industry for network traffic analysis. It's also ridiculously feature complete, to the point where you can take week-long courses on it and still have a lot of nooks and crannies left to learn. Wireshark's a great tool.

However, IME, most people who list Wireshark on a resume are at about the same skill level as people who list Word and Excel on a resume. Competency in Wireshark is sort of assumed at the level of experience of most networking jobs. If you aren't competent in it, you're either going to become so very quickly or else you're going to crash and burn even more quickly.
